"Paul Levinson's It's Real Life is a page-turning exploration into that multiverse known as rock and roll. But it is much more than a marvelous adventure narrated by a master storyteller...it is also an exquisite meditation on the very nature of alternate history." -- Jack Dann, The Fiction Writer's Guide to Alternate History

Nancy Gets Spanked and Likes It: Weeds 4.8

Nancy hasn't had much romance this season. There's certainly none at home, Doug is making her nauseous, and Conrad has vanished from the universe. But there's a tall, dark stranger who clearly desires her, and it flashes to the surface in Episode 4.8 - in a spanking.

Esteban, the drug lord at the end of the underground tunnel, Nancy's ultimate boss in her current drug trade, and the mayor of his town in Mexico (that's his cover job - mayor - I love it), has shown his interest in Nancy and spanking a few episodes ago. Nancy has not followed drug cartel protocol, and needs to be disciplined. When Nancy shows up by car (not tunnel) this time, to ask Esteban for her own supply of weed (which Guillermo has refused her), Esteban asks Nancy if she realizes she needs to be punished. Nancy says yes, and - he spanks her (on her panties, to be precise).

Nancy's reaction is the key to this important episode. She's surprised, and is sore afterwards, but clearly enjoyed the spanking. She's certainly not sore at Esteban, who comes through for her with the drugs.

A breakthrough episode in more ways than one, with Nancy for the first time this season regaining some power. And those photos that Judah long ago took of her, which Andy teased her about, and Shane and we now see, ain't bad either ...

Well, I am so glad that SOMEONE "got it!"

Yes, the spanking that Nancy (Mary-Louise Parker) received from Esteban (Demian Bichir) was definitely "consensual."

If you go back only ONE WEEK, you'll see that Nancy breaches protocol by venturing into the underground tunnel. That's where she meets Esteban. He has her kidnap and brought to him. Then he says: "You need to be punished. How about a spanking? A good, hard spanking?"

Notice that Nancy does not protest. On the contrary, she indicates that she is "thinking it over." Would the spanking be administered by that weasel Guillermo, or one of Esteban's other henchmen? Would it be administered by the tall, handsome Esteban himself?

The following week, Nancy deliberately goes to Esteban and teases him. Yes, she wants a share of his drug business, but she also wants to be spanked. Even her choice of an outfit tells you that.

Nancy: "I don't want to be punished. Not by Guillermo."

Esteban: "By ME?"

Nancy: "Sure. By you. The boss."

Whereupon, the unthinkable happens. Esteban hauls Nancy across his lap, RAISES HER SHORT SKIRT, and spanks her on her brief panties. About 20 swats, then he lets her get up, and she sits there, looking exhausted, excited, and fulfilled... all in one look.

If Nancy had NOT wanted the spanking, she would have worn those mannish pants she wore the first time she met Esteban. Her choice of a cotton sundress told us all we had to know, about her intentions.

Good episode. And the best spanking I've ever seen, on TV.

Cheers,
Dan
